A media relations campaign is only as effective as its media list. The best media hook, the most engaging copy, the most creative ideas won't matter if you choose publications that don't reach your targeted audience.

Which media outlets are Top Tier for my company?

Don't fall into the trap of thinking these have to exclusively be outlets with national reach and high circulation.

What matters is that the publication is popular with the specific audience your company sells to. This could well include publications such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal. However, for many target audience groups there are other outlets that will help you reach these people just as effectively (if not more so).

As importantly, there are a myriad of outlets that will happily mention your company, but which will waste your time, effort and resource because they’re not read by your target audience.
